Amanda Nagai has been called “A Poet for the End Times” by Báyò Akómoláfé.

She is a ritualist, deep listener, artist and author of Walk Us Home, a grief journey told as poetic memoir.

Her poetry spans the love, grief, curiosity and complexity of these rich times we are living in. She infuses her poems with hope, though it may not always look like what you’ve been taught about hope. And, she weaves words with a prayer that we will learn a different new-old way to be with each other and all beings.

Amanda draws from the teachings of many, including: her ancestors, Malidoma Patrice Somé, Sobonfu Somé, Masanobu Fukuoka, Martín Prechtel, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Báyò Akomolafe, Chairman Ron Goode, Dr. Carl Hammerschlag, Hafiz, Rumi, Shinto animism, and the land she lives on.

She calls the Coastal Miwok and Southern Pomo lands of West Sonoma County, California home.
